Play Australia to take a more active role in South Australia

 Registration is closed for this event
Over the past few years the membership numbers and interest coming out of South Australia in our organisations’ network and principles of promoting healthy and stimulating play for children and community has grown rapidly.

Recently we have held two meetings, using venues courtesy of Ray Scheuboeck at Adelaide City Council, to discuss recent trends and also the changes to the standards. Our Vice President - Paul Grover, gave an overview of the changes and the meaning of them.

We also had guest speakers from;

  • the SA Dept. for Education and Child Development;
  • Nature Play SA;
  • University of SA;
  • and new trends in playground design from some of our members.

Many people at these gatherings showed their support in being part of a “Play Australia SA” group and we are now in a position to move to the next step in this process.

Wednesday 30th July at 10am we are holding a formal meeting of those interested in being part of the team in forming our South Australian branch.

*Please note the meeting does close at midday, not 4pm as we previously had as close time*

On this occasion the meeting will be held at one of our long time partners in the City of Marion and their chambers on Sturt Road near the well known Marion Shopping Centre. Thanks to Alicia Clutterham, Dr Brett Grimm and the play team from Marion.

The meeting will be convened by Greg Keep from Keep-Safe Pty Ltd who conducts safety assessments on playgrounds, the buildings and space around them, and is also endorsed as a HSR by Safework SA.

  • We encourage all interested to attend and pass on your thoughts on how the SA organisation could be set up and possibly to draw up some goals we would like to achieve over the next year or two.
  • Form a steering committee for this first foundation year and what development roles these people will undertake as initially it will be a lean and mean group and will grow as the SA membership develops.
  • Set some dates for quarterly meetings and activities and these will probably be similar to the very popular Melbourne gatherings..... Sharing knowledge, networking, touring a few playgrounds and general promoting of ideas and safe play. Greg has already spoken to a few councils and others regarding supporting these functions.

For those of you who may not have looked on the Play Australia web page recently take a few minutes to see what we do. Also due to catering and seating requirements you need to register to attend this meeting and registrations will close in 2 weeks from today on Monday 21 July.

Please complete the registration by clicking the Register Now button and follow the prompts.
