Dr. Mariana Brusson

is a Professor at the University of British Columbia ’s Faculty of Medicine and scientist at the Britis h Columbia Children’s Hospital Research Institute\ , where she leads the Outside Play Lab . < /p>\n \n
Her award-winning research on outdoor risky play intersects injury prevention\, risk\, child devel opment\, public health and education to shift adul ts’ perceptions of risk\, design play-friendly env ironments\, and change systems to ensure all child ren have the time\, space and freedom to play outs ide every day.

Dr. Meg an Zeni is an outdoor play and learning teacher consult ant and researcher in the province of British Colu mbia\, Canada. She brings 3 decades of professiona l K-7 teaching experience in classrooms\, outdoor classrooms\, and school gardens to her collaborati ons with teachers and school system leaders intere sted in building capacity for effective and sustai nable implementation of risky play at school. She is curren tly on contract as an outreach teacher consultant for the Ministry of Education and Child Care in th e province of British Columbia\, Canada. This work includes supporting education professionals\, dis trict leaders\, and elementary school teachers in the early years.
\ n \nDr. Megan Zeni earned a PhD from the University of British Columbia in curriculum studies. Megan is also a Qu alified Master Gardener (QMG) and loves to share e xemplars that highlight how all academic content c an be taught in a school garden.
