What if play wasn’t an afterthought, but embedded into every aspect of how we plan and design our cities?
In this energising and practical session, Dr Damien Puddle will introduce his innovative multidisciplinary approach to putting play at the centre of city planning and design. Drawing from his work across urban strategy, design guides, and technical regulations, Damien asks us to consider how many opportunities for play are unintentionally “designed out” of our public spaces.
You'll explore how play can be integrated across timelines, sectors, and professional disciplines, from district plans and local government policy to on-the-ground design and delivery.
This session is for anyone working in or alongside local government, planning, urban design, or community development who wants to think more expansively about the role of play in shaping healthy, vibrant cities.
This is just one of the many powerful sessions happening at the
IPA Asia Pacific Play Conference,
25–27 June in Melbourne.
