Pre-schoolers can code: Exploring digital play
Children are growing up in a technological world, which does impact their play. My research looks at children’s digital play as a positive for their learning and I explore ways educators can engage and support this type of play, while also teaching digital literacy and social skills.
Dr Jo Bird is a Senior Lecturer, Course Coordinator, and researcher in Early Childhood at University of New England. Her research focuses on digital technologies within the early childhood sector, both in children's play, outdoor education and through scaffolding educators’ skills for digital programming and streamlining their documentation. Jo is skilled in delivering professional learning around her research interests and has been repeatedly invited to present at conferences and professional learning sessions.
