What does a truly child-friendly city look like? How does children’s play fit into the picture? And their mobility? And how can looking at cities through the eyes of children build support for more progressive planning and urban design?

This agenda-setting workshop will bring together leading thinkers to explore the key ingredients of a child-friendly neighbourhood, and the reasons why decision makers around the world are taking up the idea.

With a mix of thought-provoking content and lively discussion - informed by Tim Gill’s book Urban Playground: How child-friendly planning and design can save cities - the workshop aims to build the case for a ‘children’s lens’ in built environment thinking, showing how it can transform Australian towns and cities into inclusive, equitable, liveable, sustainable places.
