The program will focus on Neighbourhood Planning, Street Play and risk management of Basketball Rings, Nets and associated issues!

The City of Manningham has kindly agreed to host this meeting of the LGPN in Victoria.

This program will differ from our normal routine, in that we will have 3 presentations from people external to the membership in Victoria.

Members will remember meeting Rob Wheway, a playground risk assessor and open space planner from the UK at our last LGPN in Geelong. He is visiting Melbourne again and has offered to continue the conversation he began with us last time, focussing on his work and what’s going on playwise, in the UK.

Gavin Fairbrother, a Play Australia member in SA, is an inspirational leader in the OPAL Program in South Australia and has developed some brilliant activity on Street Play in Campbellfield City Council. I have enjoyed his presentation of this work in Adelaide which I am keen for him to share with our Local Government members in particular in Victoria. I have some links to his work which I will provide later.

Basketball rings and nets were raised as a current concern for Local Government at our final LGPN meeting at Knox in 2016 and I promised to find an expert on these matters to meet with us to consider the risk management implications in particular.

Register now and secure your place at our next meeting.
