Nurture in Nature has just launched a novel way to encourage and inspire outdoor play and nature connection for families and early learning environments
With their hands on Nature Bus incursions delivering outdoor play and nature inspired learning programs having been put on hold during the COVID-19 crisis, they’ve been thinking outside the box and have been busy putting together little boxes of snail mail nature inspired goodness.
Each month there will be a NEW Nature Treasure Box available with a different nature inspired play and learning theme.
April is a Natural Loose Parts Box and coming up in May will be a Natural Felting Box, with more great themes, resources and activities each month.
The Nature Treasure Boxes are great for kids of all ages 0-99+ but they are primarily aimed at 3-13 year olds.
Natural loose parts open up a whole world of possibles for children. They offer unique invitations for play and learning because they encourage imagination, creativity, critical thinking and play in children in ways that traditional toys do not.
The natural materials in these little boxes have been consciously and sustainably gathered and they are of course no substitute for regular and meaningful opportunities to connect with the natural world.
We especially encourage everyone to get outdoors to get to know and learn to love your own nearby nature, nurturing connections with the places and spaces that you live, learn and explore.
Of course right now please be aware of appropriate physical distancing and always adhere to the advice and direction of your relevant government and health authorities.
With these boxes we hope to help families and educators experience how rich in play and learning possibilities nature materials, natural skills and nature time are for their children. Nature is a wonderful alternative to plastic toys and worksheets!
