The Habitat of Childhood – a snapshot of why spending time in, and with, nature is a fundamental component of childhood

Registration is closed for this event

Play Australia, Early Years Series, The habitat of childhood with Jason Tyndall

Childhood has changed. The notion of kids roaming around neighbourhoods unaccompanied by an adult is not a current practice of the childhood landscape - but this type of ‘free play’ is often incorrectly associated with what nature play is. Childhood can thrive in the absence of roaming ‘free’. This session will unpack what a nature-rich childhood looks like today, its benefits, and how it can be incorporated into everyday teaching and learning.

Jason is the General Manager at Nature Play SA with a background in ecology, conservation and community development. He is a father of two young children, and the author of Nature Play SA’s first book Where Birds Sing and Wildflower’s Dance.
