In conversation with Greg Mews...

In his pursuit of adding quality to urban environments, Greg's activities impacted people's minds, bodies and hearts across Europe (play space designs), Africa (improved conditions for youth in informal settlements), and Australasia (urban health in policy and practices). He started off as a struggling artist in Berlin, completed three formal degrees plus a PhD and then founded several progressive social entrepreneurships. Now he serves on international boards of non-for-profit organisations and advocates worldwide on formats such as TEDx, podcasts and large UN led events on health and wellbeing for vulnerable and underprivileged people. Greg also teaches in urban design and town planning and co-leads research as part of Bioclimatic and Sociotechnical Cities Lab (BASC) at the University of the Sunshine Coast. He previously taught at universities such as Yale University, TU-Berlin, QUT and University of Canberra.

Greg's recent book Transforming Public Space through Play received the prestigious Gerd Albers Award for best book in 2022 from the International Society of City and Regional Planners as well as the 2022 Planning Institute of Australia QLD Award for best research.

Join us as Robyn Monro Miller chats to Greg about the key concepts of his book and discusses with him how we can support environments for play that transform public space and improve health and wellbeing outcomes for everyone. There will be opportunity for audience questions and discussion.
